In plain language

We want everyone to be able to learn with Ulamat. We aim for WCAG 2.2 level AA, test with keyboard and screen readers, and respect reduced motion. If something is hard to use, please tell us.

Our aim

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA across the app and website.

What we do

  • Large tap targets (at least 44 pixels) and clear focus outlines.
  • Text contrast of at least 4.5:1 in light and dark themes.
  • Separate text size controls for Arabic and translations, and an easy-read font option.
  • Full keyboard use, with skip links and labelled controls.
  • Right-to-left layouts for Arabic and Urdu.
  • Reduced motion respected everywhere: animations are removed when your device asks for it.
  • Mistakes shown in amber with words and icons, never by color alone.
  • Audio always has the text on screen, and no background music.

Known limitations

  • The recitation check needs your voice. If you can't use the microphone, every lesson can still be learned by reading and listening.
  • Some Quran text uses a special Uthmani font; screen readers may read harakat differently.
